Balinese are cats of rare beauty, with a medium length, elegant silken coat which lays flat and tends not to mat due to the lack of an undercoat. Shedding is minimal and for this reason Balinese are considered to be the most hypo-allergenic of all the long coated breeds of cats.
Balinese colouring is the same as in their Siamese cousins, with a pale body coat and coloured points. Balinese are available in all the same colour variations as the Siamese, ranging from the deep rich brown of the seal points, the warm, creamy milk chocolate-y brown of the chocolate point to the cool grayish blue points, pale, delicate lilac points, flame, apricot and cream points as well as the distinctive tortie and lynx (tabby) points.
Balinese are very intelligent, ranking 9-10 on a scale of 1-10, ranking at the top of all the cat breeds with their short-haired Siamese counterparts. They love to romp and play, learning quickly to play fetch and other interactive games with their human families. Balinese love high places and can often be found perched on top of refrigerators or cupboards.
Balinese are elegant, polite and even-tempered cats that crave company, so they do not do well as only pets in busy households where their human family is absent much of the time. Balinese are sensitive to our moods and will go to great lengths to comfort or amuse their family members when needed.
Balinese fit well with most lifestyles, from active families to lonely sedentary seniors or invalids. They are easy to train to harness and leash and make wonderful travelling companions if introduced from a young age.
Dogs can be wonderful companions for Balinese cats and kittens if they have been raised and socialized from an early age. I often have litters of puppies and kittens at the same time and love watching them develop and interact with one another. To see a pile of sleeping babes, kittens and puppies together as if from one big mixed up litter is a sight to warm even the coldest heart.
Balinese are vocal but with a softer voice than the Siamese, but generally don’t walk around yowling indiscriminately, preferring to reserve their conversational expertise for matters of greater importance.
I have been breeding these wonderfully unique cats for 25+ years and have developed my own bloodlines with an emphasis on breeding cats with exceptional temperaments that love to socialize. My Balinese are purebred but not registered as I have no interest in showing, instead I have focused on breeding classy, elegant ‘people cats’ with long, silky coats that love to interact with their human families.
My breeding stock are family members that live in the house and are raised underfoot, not caged or kenneled. My kitten area is in a high traffic area of our home, so kittens are accustomed to plenty of activity going on around them.
Balinese are a very healthy breed that does not often suffer from many of the diseases common to other cats. My kittens and breeding stock are raised naturally with no vaccinations, relying instead on proper nutrition and their own inherent ability to fight off disease and develop immunities naturally without interference from pharmaceuticals. My cats and kittens are fed only high quality, grain free cat/kitten food from Canadian sources.
